KABUL: The acting minister of education says of less progress in educaiton sector despite allegations on considerable developmeents in paving the ground for education.
Rangina Hamidi, who failed to secure parliament’s vote of confidence as education minister, said Tuesday that she had worked a lot to improve quality in educaiton in the past one year.
“We have worked a lot on the quantity and will work on quality in the future. We have a new policy and our main goal is schools. This will help us to promote teaching quality at schools.”
She said that 650 new schools were built in 2020.
The comments come as reports say that millions of children are deprived from going to school in different areas particularly in unsafe provinces in the east and south.
President Ghani earlier criticized ministry of education for a weak teaching curriculum during opening a school in Khost province.
Mrs. Hamidi promised to resolve the problem by distributing new text books.
She said that 12,200,000 new text books have been already printed, while another 37,000,000 are under printing.
Mrs. Hamidi was showered by criticisms from government officials, lawmakers, politicians and people for her plan to shift primary school children to mosques.
The critics reject her idea as ridiculous.
