AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Afghan security forces have killed at least 10 Daesh fighters in a series of mop-up operation conducted in Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province, military official said on Tuesday.
In a media statement issued the Selab Military Corps said that Afghan security forces attacked Daesh hideouts in the Abdul Khel area of Achin district. The corps which is stationed in the east said that eight other Daesh insurgents received injuries during the operation.
A Corolla-model car and a motorcycle were also destroyed during the operation.
Haji Ghalib Mujahid, Achin district chief, said that more than 13 Daesh fighters were killed as a result of military operation targeting their hideouts. He said that civilians suffered no casualties during the clearance operation.
Daesh also known as the Islamic State had made inroads in the eastern province and creating challenges for security forces and civilians. Afghan government has repeatedly urged the coalition forces to target the IS hideouts but there is no decrease in activities of the multinational terror group.
