AT-KABUL: At least 10 insurgents killed and four others wounded in recent clashes between the security forces and the Taliban in northern Sari-i-Pul province, said local officials on Wednesday.
The provincial governor Mohammad Zahir Wahdat confirmed the clashes and said that at least 10 insurgents were killed and four others were injured in the clashes in Sozma Qala and Sayed districts of the province.
He said the clashes were still continued, adding that a local police commander was among the four officers killed during the clashes between the security forces and the Taliban. He did not provide further information but said that more policemen were deployed in the area.
The Taliban insurgents have not commented on the clashes.
Sari-i-Pul is one of the restive provinces in the country, where the security forces have launched a series of operations.
The security forces are still launching operations to eliminate nests of the Taliban and the insurgents in the province.
