AT-KABUL: 100 Taliban insurgents were killed and 55 others injured in different offensives launched by the police forces in the past 24 hours, a security official said Tuesday.
Interior ministry spokesman Seddiq Seddiqi said that police were fully helped by the Afghan National Army and National Directorate of Security during the operations launched against insurgents in different areas of Kunar, Nangarhar, Parwan, Logar, Wardak, Daikundi, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Helmand, Herat, Sar-e-Pul, Jowzjan, Kunduz and Takhar provinces.
“In these operations, 100 Taliban rebels were killed, 55 injured and nine others were arrested,” Seddiqi said.
He added: “During these operations, the security forces also discovered and confiscated two rocket launchers with 47 rocket-propelled grenades, 31 mortars, 100 kilograms of improvised explosive device, 18 different types of rifles, nine AK-47 machineguns and 14 motorbikes.”
He asserted that unfortunately, as a result of the clearance operations, eight troops were martyred and 16 others were injured.
