KABUL: At least 100 Taliban insurgents were killed and 50 others were wounded in a series of latest crackdowns conducted by the Afghan security forces in different provinces across the country in the past 24 hours, the defense ministry said Wednesday.
The Afghan security forces backed by the Afghan Air Forces conducted operations and counter attacks against Taliban militants in Laghman, Kunar, Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktia, Maidan Wardak, Khost, Zabul, Badghis, Herat, Faryab, Helmand and Baghlan provinces that killed 100 insurgents while another 50 were wounded, the ministry said in a statement.
According to the statement, 35 rounds of mines and IEDs that were planted by Taliban to target civilians and security forces were also discovered and defused.
Huge amounts of weapons and ammunition were also destroyed, the statement added.
