KABUL: Afghanistan has recorded 106 new positive cases of coronavirus and seven deaths in the past 24 hours throughout the country, said the Ministry of Public Health on Tuesday.
The total tally now stands to 53,690 cases around the country. According to the Ministry, the new cases were reported out of 1,202 suspected samples. Another 472 patients have fully recovered during the same period of time.
The total recoveries exceeded to 44,608 and the deaths to 2,308 across the country since the outbreak of the pandemic started.
This is as the health authorities said that the second wave of the virus has been controlled, but the third wave can start anytime soon. He called on the Afghans to put on masks, avoid attending crowded gatherings, and observe social distancing to keep the third wave away from the society.
The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 1,945,203 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 90,907,661, according to Johns Hopkins University.
