AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled (MoLSAMD) on Monday said retired government servants would receive their salaries online once the biometric system was set in motion.
Funding the salaries of retired government servants, the MoLSAMD has allocated 10 billion afghanis.
The MoLSAMD spokesman Abdul Fatah Ishrat Ahmadzai said 135, 121, 91 retired officials are there in the country. He displayed the number, adding 989 of them belonged to civilian institutions and 43, 135 have been served in military institutions.
“100,007 had been registered in Kabul and the rest in other provinces,” he added.
However, he noted that the number of retired servants could be increased with the passage of time, as government servants gets retirement after reaching superannuation age. The retirement age is 67 years.
He further went on saying that all the vacant positions are systemically filled by the fresh and deserving ones.
For the ongoing fiscal year, 12 billion afghanis had been allocated for the salaries of retired servants, but 2 billion afghanis had not paid last year, the spokesman explained.
Prior to this 9.1 billion afghanis were proposed for the last fiscal year, 2.2 billion were not released by the Ministry of Finance (MoF), claiming budgetary problems.
“Since the beginning of the program two years back, 91, 000 retired officials have been documented electronically,” he disclosed, adding the process would be launched in Kabul, Herat, Kandahar, Balkh and Nangarhar provinces.
He was optimistic in the biometric registration of retired servants to know the actual number of retired servants and prevent corruption.
The spokesman called on the retired personnel to apply for electronic registration for inclusion in the payroll system. He said once the process of electronic registration was completed, all the retired servants would be able to receive their salaries through banking.
