AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least 11 militants loyal to the Islamic State (IS), which is also known as Daesh terrorist have been killed in a US drone strike carried out in Watapoor district of eastern Kunar province, an official said on Wednesday.
The Provincial Police Chief, Maj. Gen. Juma Gul Himmat, told Pajhwok Afghan News the US forces conducted a drone strike against Daesh hideout in the Katar Kala area of the said district on late Tuesday night.
He said the successful drone strike was resulted into killing of 11 insurgents, including three notorious commanders and a financier of the group.
Himmat added that the security forces and civilians sustained no casualties during the raid.
The terrorist and destructive activities of Daesh militant’s have been increased in Kunar, but Afghan and coalition forces have launched an air and ground offensives against them in a bid to capture or kill them all.
