KABUL: At least 124 militants were killed and 20 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said Saturday.
Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas Takhar, Herat, Faryab, Nangarhar, Paktia, Logar, Zabul, Kunduz, Maidan Wardak, Kandahar, Baghlan, Balkh and Paktika provinces, in which 124 militants were killed and 20 others wounded.
Afghan forces arrested six militants including four suspects and handed over them to judicial organs for further inquiry.
The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During operations in the past 24 hours, 58 insurgents were killed and several fighting positions were destroyed in Darqad and Ishkamish districts of Takhar – 24 militants killed and 15 motorbikes destroyed in Rabat Sangi district of Herat – eight Taliban fighters killed and four others wounded in Qaramqol district of Faryab – seven Daesh affiliates killed in Deh Bala district of Nangarhar – five rebels killed and in Sar Hawza district of Paktika – five militants were killed, three wounded and one vehicle was destroyed in Mohammad Agha district of Logar – four militants killed and three others wounded in Arghandab district of Zabul – four insurgents killed in Khan Abad and Imam Sahib Districts of Kunduz – three insurgents killed and five others including three suspects were arrested in in Jalrez and Chak districts of Maidan Wardak – two rebels were killed and five others wounded in in Dand-e Ghori district of Baghlan province.
Similarly, two militants were killed and five others wounded in Shah Walikut district of Kandahar – one insurgent killed and three others wounded in in Grishk district of Helmand – one Taliban fighter was killed in Chamtal district of Balkh, one suspect was detained in Sayed Karam district of Paktia province.
In the past 24 hours, 20 planed clearing operations, and Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army, including 21 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
