AT-KABUL: At least 13 passengers were killed and 27 others were wounded in two separate traffic accidents in southern Ghazni and central Maidan Wardak provinces, officials said Saturday.
Four passengers were killed and 16 others injured when a mini bus collided head-on with another car in Aziz Kala area of Ghazni City on Kabul-Kandahar highway this morning, the governor’s spokesman said.
Shafiq Nang said the dead and wounded included women and children also.
Separately, 20 passengers suffered casualties in a accident in Maidan Wardak province.
Governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, said the accident took place when a mini bus veered off the road in Oni Kotal area of Jalrez district around 5:00 am this morning.
He said nine passengers including four women and two children died and 11 others injured in the accident.
The wounded were shifted to Kabul hospitals but two of them were in critical condition, he added. Road accidents usually happen as a result of reckless driving and uneven road condition of Kabul-Kandahar Highway.
