AT-KABUL: Fourteen civilians taken hostage by the Daesh terrorist group, have been freed in eastern Nangarhar province, local officials said Saturday.
They are ordinary people and had been abducted by Daesh group some two months ago in the Haska Mina district.
“Twelve teachers and two clerks of ministry of education who were abducted by Daesh fighters from Misher Mullah Madrasa on 15 January, were freed yesterday,” said provincial spokesman Attaullah Khogiani.
He said that the released people joined their families in Haska Meena district.
In a statement the ministry of education confirmed the release of 12 teachers and two clerks, saying that all freed people were safe and had joined their families.
The ministry added that the teachers were released in cooperation with the Afghan forces in collaboration with the Ulema and tribal elders in the province.
The ministry urged people to help and protect teachers across the country.
