AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least 15 Taliban militants including a key commander have been killed by Afghan security forces during a clearance operation in the western Farah province on Sunday, said an official.
A senior army officer General Taj Mohammad Jahid said that the Afghan security forces have conducted a military offensive against the Taliban insurgents in Balablock district of the province.
“As a result of the operations, security forces killed 15 rebels, including a key commander, Maulvi Ibrahim Shiwani,” Jahid said.
He alleged that Shiwani was serving as shadow deputy governor of the Taliban for the province.
“Killing of the commander will weaken the Taliban militants in Farah,” He said.
Taliban militants haven’t commented about the operations yet.
