Afghanistan Seeks Continued Regional Support to Durable Peace

KABUL: The government has formed a delegation consisting of 16 people to participate in the Moscow meeting planned to be held on the peace process in Afghanistan.
The meeting is slated for Thursday (March 18).
The Afghan government’s delegation is led by head of reconciliation council Abdullah Abdullah.
Separately, the ministry of foreign affairs in a statement, welcomed “honest efforts and support” from neighboring and regional countries for the peace efforts in Afghanistan and emphasized on continuing supports.
It called Moscow meeting a complement of the Qatar talks, saying it would not replace that.
Zalmay Khalilzad, the United States special envoy for Afghan peace is also going to attend the Moscow meeting, according to the US state department.
The government delegation members are:
Abdullah Abdullah head of reconciliation council, Mir Rahman Rahmani, parliament speaker, Hamid Karzai former president, Mohammad Karim Khalili, former vice president, Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, former vice president, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar leader of Hezb-e-Islami (Islamic Party), Babor Farahmand deputy head of reconciliation council, Sayed Saadat Mansour Naderi state minister for peace, Mohammad Massoum Stanakzai head of Afghan peace negotiation team, Matin Beg member of peace delegation, Nader Naderi member of peace delegation, Habiba Sarabi member of peace delegation, Alam Izadyar senator, Abdullah Khenjani deputy state minister for peace, Abdul Sattar Khawasi member of Hezb-e-Islami and Ghairat Bahir member of Hezb-e-Islami.
