AT-KABUL: Kabul Municipality plans to asphalt160 kilometer roads in the capital, while 800 kilometer roads have been already reconstructed, it said Tuesday.
Kabul caretaker mayor Mohammad Aslam Akrami said they plan to asphalt and reconstruct more roads including the ones in Khair Khana and Taimani neighborhoods in the new Afghan year.
“We have asphalted 1,500 kilometer roads in the past 10 years, and about 800 kilometers which were destroyed, were rebuilt,” Akrmi said.
Kabul residents have always complained over the reconstruction of roads, saying since Kabul city is without mayor, the reconstruction of roads continues very slowly.
He asserted that Wazir Abad sewage canal was one of the important canals. “It has been designed and is ready for the assessment by the National Procurement Committee after which, its practical work will start.
Nasrin Sabri, head of greenery department of the municipality announced a five-day tree-planting campaign in 22 PDs in Kabul city.
“We have so far planted about 800 plants in various parts of Kabul city,” She added.
She said that 300,000 trees would be planted in Kabul.
She said: “These plants will be planted in parks, roadsides, near the shops, administrative buildings, schools and mosques.”
