KABUL: At least 169 militants have been killed and 39 others received injuries in multiple extensive military crackdowns within past 24 hours, security officials said Sunday.
Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Paktia, Ghazni, Faryab, Jawzjan, Paktika, Urzgan, Nangarhar, Urzgan, Helmand, Maidan Wardak and Baghlan provinces, in which 169 militants were killed and 39 others wounded.
The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations, 84 Taliban fighters were killed, 20 wounded, 23 motorbikes, one vehicle and amount of weapons and ammunition destroyed in airstrikes in Warmami district of Paktia—34 insurgents killed, amount of weapons and ammunition, 20 military uniform, 5 radio seized, 26 motorbikes, one vehicle, one IED facility, 166 round of different IEDs, 1470 kg explosives destroyed in Muqur, Waghaz, Qarabagh districts and capital of Ghazni—14 insurgents killed and 12 others wounded in Gurziwan district of Faryab—eigh insurgents killed in Quash Tepa district of Jawzjan—seven rebels killed in Sharan-Zurmat highway of Paktia and Paktika—six militants killed and two others wounded in Dehrawood district and Queri-Ni-Chine Mir Abad area of capital of Urzgan province.
Similarly, five insurgents were killed and one wounded in Surkh Rod district of Nangarhar—five militants killed in Nad Ali district of Helmand—three insurgents killed in Nirkh district of Maidan Wardak and 11 rebels killed in Baghlan-e-Markazi district of Baghlan province.
In past 24 hours, 20 planed clearing operations, and 84 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army, including 32 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
