AT News Report-KABUL: At least 17 security personnel including 10 local policemen and seven army soldiers were killed, after the Taliban militants attacked a security post in northern Takhar province on Thursday night.
“Militants staged massive raids on a police and army outpost in Pul-e-Momin area of Khwaja Ghar district on Thursday midnight ,” said Takhar governor Sanullah Timori.
After three hours of consecutive clashes between militants and Afghan security forces, ten local police officers and seven army soldiers were killed, he said.
Two local police commanders were among the dead. And 12 others including nine local police officers were wounded in the raid, he said.
Another local police post in that area has also fallen into the Taliban’s hands. He said that fresh troops were dispatched to the area on Friday morning and took control.
