AT-KABUL: Foreign Minister Salahduddin Rabbani told lawmakers at the Wolesi Jirga that 1,700 Afghan migrants have applied to voluntarily return from Germany.
“A large number of Afghans are willing to return home, but so far 1,700 of Afghans have applied for voluntary repatriation from Germany,” Rabbani briefed lawmakers on Wednesday. At the same time, he assured that the Afghan government would not accept any forced deportation of Afghan asylum seekers.
The remarks of Afghan official is coming at a time when Afghan embassy to Berlin, has said that voluntary repatriation of Afghans from Germany has increased recently.
Based on the earlier reports of the embassy, thousands of Afghans have applied for voluntarily repatriation.
A group of 125 Afghans returned from Germany in February. The governments of Afghanistan and Germany have helped these Afghans in their repatriation process.
