18 Taliban Rebels Killed in Kandahar Operation

KABUL: At least 18 Taliban militants have been killed and three others wounded during a crackdown carried out in southern Kandahar province.

Afghan security forces supported by the Afghan Air Forces conducted operation against Taliban insurgents in Arghandab and Zherai districts of Kandahar, in which 18 Taliban rebels were killed and three others were wounded, the Ministry of Defense said on Monday.

A large area of Zherai district and Kandahar-Helmand highway were also cleared from the enemy.

Also 13 rounds of mines planted in Arghandab, Dand and Zherai was discovered and defused by the security forces, the statement added.
