AT-KABUL: As the result of joint crackdowns in different parts of the country at least 140 armed insurgents were killed, 58 injured and 10 others were detained by the Afghan National Security Forces.
The Ministry of Defense in a press statement on Tuesday said that within the past 24 hours the Afghan National Security Forces launched different clearing operations against armed insurgents in different districts of Kunar, Nangarhar, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Urozgan, Zabul, Herat, Ghor, Balkh, Jawzjan, Takhar, Baghlan, Kunduz, Kabul, Paktia, Paktika, Farah and Helmand provinces.
“The special and the air forces had significant role in surprising the terrorists. They inflicted heavy casualties on the enemies,” said the statement.
According to the statement in the operation two influential Taliban commanders, Naimatullah and Mohammad Amin, also were killed in the Urozgan and Takhar provinces. Eleven Afghan soldiers were killed in the line of duty.
