AT-KABUL: At least 20 people were killed and eight injured on Saturday in a deadly car bombing in Kunduz province.
Spokesman to the provincial police chief, Sayed Sarwar Hussaini, said that a car bomb went off around 8:00 p.m. (local time) in Bandar-i-Shurab locality of Khanabad district.
Most of the dead and injured people were pro-government militiamen. The militiamen were active in the district to prevent the Taliban insurgents from seizing control of the district.
The spokesman said that police were investigating whether it was a suicide attack or planted bomb. He said that injured were shifted to a nearest hospital for treatment.
The Taliban insurgents are active in the restive Kunduz province. The militant group has seized control of different villages.
