AT-KABUL: Fighting between the Taliban and the Islamic State (IS) fighters in western Farah province led to killing of more than 20 militants from both sides.
Hanif Razai, a spokesman of the national army in the province, said that fighting between the two militant groups is still going on in Sakhash Mazar area of Khak-e-Safid district of the province.
Razai said that more than 20 militants from both sides have been killed in the clashes. He added, the Taliban have held 12 fighters of IS, also known as Daesh, including four foreign women.
None of the militant groups have commented about the fighting so far.
This is the second time that fighting is being reported between the Taliban and Daesh fighters in Afghanistan. The Ministry of Defense (MoD) in a media statement last week reported heavy fighting between the Taliban and IS in Nazyan and Dur Baba districts of eastern Nangarhar province.
