AT-KABUL: At least 21 Taliban insurgents were killed and 12 injured in a series of sweeping operations launched by the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) in different parts of the country, defense ministry announced, in which 12 suspects have been also arrested.
In a statement sent to media on Saturday, the ministry said that the security forces launched joint clearing operations against Taliban insurgents in different parts of the country and inflicted heavy casualties to the armed insurgents.
The operations were launched in the past 24 hours with the support of Afghan Air Force in areas of Charchino district of Uruzgan, Asghar district of Zabul, capital city of Kunduz, Rodat district of Nagarhar, Gereshk district of Helmand, Maiwand district of Kandahar, and in the outskirts of Khost provinces.
According to the statement, in the raids the Afghan security forces seized and confiscated some light and heavy weapons from armed oppositions. The statement added that in the concerned attacks 9 Afghan soldiers also were killed.
