KABUL: The Afghan security forces have killed at least 21 Taliban insurgents and 13 others were wounded in security operation in Sherzad district of eastern Nangarhar province, official said on Friday.
To suppress the insurgents in the district, the Afghan security forces had launched operation five days ago.
Brig. Gen. Mohammad Karim Niazai, an official of Selab Military Corps, told Pajhwok Afghan News that security forces were able to reopen Khogyani-Sherzad highway for traffic.
At least 21militants were killed and 13 others wounded during the offensive, he said, adding several villages were purged of militants and many weapons, ammunition and landmines belonging rebels were destroyed.
