KABUL: At least 21 Afghan security forces have lost their lives and several others wounded in the fight against the Taliban insurgents in the Northern provinces of Afghanistan, officials said on Monday.
Kunduz governor spokesman, Ismatullah Muradi said the Taliban stormed the security forces checkpoints in Imam-Saib and Chahardara districts. According to him, 14 security forces were killed and two others wounded in the attack.
He said the Taliban have also suffered casualties and that the security forces seized their weapons and ammunition.
Seven other security forces were killed in northern Badakhshan province.
Spokesman for the Badakhshan governor office, Nik Mohammad Nazari said seven security forces were killed and two others wounded by the Taliban in Arghanj district of the province. The Taliban conducted aggressive attacks in coordination with the IS-K and Al-Qaeda, he added.
The Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the attack, saying that the militants seized two Hamvees of the Afghan security forces. Earlier, 12 Afghan security forces were killed in the Taliban attack in Pato district of central Daikundi.
