KABUL: Twenty-one fighters loyal to Taliban and Daesh terrorist group have handed over their weapons to the national security force in eastern Nangarhar province, joining peace process, provincial officials said.
Shah Mahmood Miyakhel, governor of Nangarhar province, said Tuesday that it’s the policy of the government that everyone who wants to join the peace process, the government warmly welcomes.
He added that 18 fighter from Taliban and three others from Daesh group joined the peace process.
“When we saw these groups are equally supported by Pakistan and ISI group we came to cooperate with the National Security Force in the country,” said an insurgent who has joined the peace process.
Also, another former Taliban member, Abdul Rahim says: “I fought for three or four years against the government. We attacked the government bodies, when we learned that this is a foreign war imposed on Afghans, then we came and joined the peace process.”
