AT-KABUL: Twenty-four Taliban fighters were killed and nine others were wounded in different crackdowns within past 24 hours, security officials said Sunday.
Ministry of Defense said in a statement that the national army with the cooperation of the national police and National Directorate of Security (NDS) conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Kunar, Paktika, Ghazni, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Farah, Herat, Ghor, Badghis, Baghlan, Balkh, Jawzjan, Faryab, Kunduz and Helmand provinces.
“In these operations24rebelsincluding 13 Daesh fighters were killed and nine others were injured,” the statement added.
Two insurgents were arrested and handed over to judicial organs for further inquiry, it said.
The security forces also discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations.
Six soldiers were killed in the operations, according to the statement.
