AT-LASHKARGAH: At least 25 Taliban militants were killed in airstrikes conducted in several districts of southern Helmand province, a statement from provincial government office said on Sunday.
The airstrikes targeted Taliban positions in Nad-e-Ali, Garmsir, Chah-e-Anjir and Nahr-e-Saraj districts on Saturday night, in which three Taliban commanders were also killed, the statement added.
Mullah Rahmatullah, a notorious commander of the Taliban was among the killed, it added.
The killing of the commander follows the Taliban’s shadow governor for Helmand province killing along with the group’s military commander for the province in an airstrike carried out by the US military in the Nad-e-Ali district.
It is worth mentioning that fierce fighting has been continuing between Afghan security forces and the Taliban in several districts of the province. The Taliban insurgents escalated attacks in different districts of Helmand province. However, the Afghan security forces are fighting the Taliban’s attack in the district with high sprit and defeated them “Taliban”.
Defense and Interior ministries assured that Afghan security forces repulsed Taliban while giving them “Taliban” tit-for-tat responses to their attacks.
