KABUL: At least 27 civilians were killed and wounded within the past 24 hours across Afghanistan, security officials said on Saturday.
A spokesman for the ministry of interior affairs, Hamid Roshan said that these casualties were inflicted on civilians due to roadside blasts planted by the Taliban in Laghman, Takhar, Sar-e-Pul, Khost and Nangarhar provinces.
Children and women are among the victims.
“The Taliban commit crimes with the continuation of killing people,” he added. “Targeting civilians, women and children are in contrast with the Islamic regulation in any type of situation and is also against human rights values.”
Afghanistan has recently seen an upswing in violence with the militants engaged in new tactics of terrorizing the country.
