KABUL: KABUL: The defense officials said that the Afghan security forces have killed at least 288 Taliban insurgents in a series of offensive against the group across the country in the past 24 hours.
Another 132 Taliban insurgents were wounded during the latest military crackdowns that carried out in Nangarhar, Laghman, Ghazni, Wardak, Logar, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Zabul, Herat, Farah, Jawzjan, Helmand and Baghlann province.
Backed by the Afghan Air Forces, the operation went successfully.
Some 70 rounds of mines that were planted by the Taliban to target civilians and security forces were also discovered and defused, the ministry of defense said in a statement on Sunday.
“Huge amounts of weapons and ammunition were also destroyed during the raids,” the statement added.
In another operation on Sunday, at least 250 Taliban insurgents were killed in a series of offensive conducted by the Afghan security forces.
Another 160 Taliban insurgents were wounded, said the ministry of defense.
This is as recently a spokesman for the ministry of defense, Fawad Aman said that a key commander and cruel members of Taliban, Omar Bilal in Qarabagh district of Ghazni province was killed in ANA operation on Saturday.
Also, vast areas were cleared off from Taliban and a large amount of their weapons were destroyed during the operation, he claimed.
He furthered that Taliban fighters used people’s house as strongholds and civilians as shields.
