KABUL: At least 31 Taliban fighters have been killed and 10 others were wounded during the latest crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces in different provinces in the past 24 hours, Ministry of Defense said on Wednesday.
The Afghan security forces repelled Taliban’s attack in Zherai district of Kandahar province, where 12 Taliban militants were killed and five others were wounded, the ministry said in a statement.
Some weapons of the enemy were destroyed during counterattack, it added.
In a separate attack, 19 Taliban insurgents were killed and five others were wounded in Gizab district of Uruzgan province.
They were planning to attack Afghan forces positions when targeted by the security forces, added statement. “Some amount of the enemy ammunition and weapons were also destroyed.”
Also a Taliban’s IEDs factory and stronghold was discovered and destroyed by the Afghan National Army at the outskirts of Logar provincial center. More than 300 rockets and 45 IEDs were seized as result of the operation, the statement concluded.
