KABUL: At least 33 drug runners, including a woman, were found guilty of drug trafficking and sentenced to several years jail term in the past one week, anti-drug authority said on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by the courts of Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF), six drug traffickers sentenced to two and half to 18 years incarceration after examining their dossiers by primary court of CJTF.
27 others were sentenced to several years in prison.
The Counter Narcotics Police (CNP) has seized 146kg heroin, 28kg crystal and 28g Tablet-K from the aforementioned convicted drug runners, the statement added.
At the same period, CNP and other intelligence forces have arrested 50 suspected drug traffickers, including a woman during operation in different provinces. Dossiers of the detained drug runners have been sent to a related organ for further inquiry.
These culprits were detained with drugs in Kabul, Kandahar, Samangan, Herat, Nimroz, Faryab, Jawzjan, Takhar, Balkh, Kunduz, Farah, Badakhshan, Nangarhar, Paktia and Zabul provinces.
After examining the evidence and arguments from both sides, the CJTF court has convicted the accused traffickers.
All the convicted drug traffickers would have defense attorneys for their legal defense and will be convicted after separate judicial trials based on the evidence brought before the court and the Counter Narcotics law of Afghanistan.
