KABUL: At least 33 Taliban militants have been killed and six others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said Wednesday.
Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Kandahar, Kunduz, Balkh, Ghzni, Herat, Laghman and Helmand provinces, in which 33 militants were killed and six others wounded.
Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations, 16 Taliban fighters were killed, two vehicles and four motorbikes of the enemy destroyed in Maiwand district of Kandahar—six insurgents killed in Dasht- Archi district of Kunduz—five rebels killed, three wounded and amount of weapons and ammunition destroyed in Shortepa, Dawlat Abad and Balkh districts of Balkh—two insurgents killed and two others were wounded in Kabul-Ghazni highways.
Similarly, two insurgents were killed in Deh-Ghulam area of the Zahwal district of Herat, one militant was killed and another wounded in Alingar District of Laghman, one insurgent was killed in Mirmando village of the Nahar Saraj district of Helmand province.
In the past 24 hours, 16 planed clearing operations, and Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army, including six strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
