KABUL: At least 36 Taliban insurgents have been killed and 12 others received injures in several air and ground operations conducted jointly by the Afghan and coalition forces in Ghazni province, local official said Tuesday.
Provincial Governor Spokesman Arif Noori told Ariana News that the operations were conducted in the provincial capital Ghazni city and in Ab band, Andar, Nawa and Deh Yak districts of the province.
According to Noori, at least 36 Taliban insurgents including a group’s key commander were killed and 12 others wounded during the military raids. The Taliban commander was identified as Mullah Ramazan.
Moreover, nine Taliban insurgents were also detained during these operations. A weapon cache and at least 46 vehicles of the Taliban were also destroyed during the raids, he added.
There is no immediate say from the Taliban extremist group over the operation.
Furthermore, the Afghan Special Forces on Sunday set free 10 people from a Taliban prison in Qarabagh district of the same province. 10 Taliban insurgents were also killed during rescue operation.
