KABUL – A total of 41 healthcare centers in Afghanistan’s eastern Ghazni and central Bamiyan provinces have been forced to close due to cuts in U.S. assistance, local media reported Wednesday.
In Ghazni alone, 39 facilities have shut down, including small clinics, mobile teams, and a safety center, according to Mullah Hamidullah Nisar, head of the province’s information and culture department. Meanwhile, two healthcare offices in Bamiyan have also ceased operations, provincial spokesman Saboor Sighani confirmed.
The closures come amid the broader suspension of U.S. humanitarian aid, which has led to the shutdown of 50 aid organizations across Afghanistan, further straining access to essential services in the crisis-hit country.
