AT-KABUL: Forty-three terrorists of the Daesh (Arabic acronym of the Islamic State) were killed in two districts of the eastern Nangarhar province, local officials said Tuesday.
Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor said that 25 Daesh terrorists were killed in a NATO air strike Monday night in the Achin district.
“They were targeted and killed while planning to attack Afghan security forces stationed in the area,” Khogyani said.
Separately, 18 terrorists of the Daesh were killed in an operation launched by the national security forces, a provincial council member said.
“Security forces launched the operation ‘Falcon 18’ early Tuesday in the Daesh-controlled areas of Achin,” said Nilofar Aziz.
She added that the security forces seized a large number of weapons and ammunition in the terrorists’ hideouts.
Security officials said the operation would continue in the district and other parts of province to remove the militants.
