AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least 43 passengers were killed and three others wounded in a traffic accident in northern Samangan province, said official sources.
Samangan police spokesman, Abdul Monir Rahimi, said the other day that the passenger bus was traveling from Kabul to Mazar-e-Sharif, when it collided with a truck in Hazrat Sultan area of the province, leaving all the passengers killed and wounded. He said that among the victims there were also women and children.
A statement from the ministry of defense said 80 personnel of the 209th Shaheen Military Corps immediately reached the area with ambulances, cranes and other equipment to rescue the victims. The dead bodies and wounded people were shifted to the Samangan Civil Hospital, it added.
Afghanistan has the world’s most dangerous roads which are the reason of such incidents and claims dozens of lives every year. Reckless driving is also the reason of the increasing road accidents.
Nearly 18 people were killed in May this year when a minivan overturned in Badghis province. In April 2013, a bus hit a wrecked fuel tanker in Kandahar which claimed the lives of 45 people.
