KABUL: At least 44 Taliban rebels were killed and 23 others wounded in latest crackdowns conducted by the Afghan security forces in different provinces in the past 24 hours, defense ministry said Sunday.
At least 31 Taliban rebels were killed and 23 others wounded in Gizab district of Uruzgan province on Saturday, the ministry’s statement said. “These Taliban rebels had prepared to attack Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANDSF) positions when they were targeted by Afghan National Army (ANA) forces,” the statement added.
In another raid in Shahwali-Kot district of Kandahar province, five Taliban rebels were killed, according to the statement. “They were preparing to attack Afghan security forces positions when targeted by the Afghan forces.”
Moreover, eight Taliban rebels were killed in Panjwae and Zherai districts of Kandahar Saturday night.
