KABUL: At least 46 Taliban fighters have been killed and 22 others were wounded during latest crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces in different provinces across the country in the past 24 hours, defense officials said Tuesday.
Afghan Air Forces targeted Taliban’s gathering and strongholds in Almar and Qaisar districts of northern Faryab province, in which 21 militants, including Qari Mehrab, Qari Sharif and Qari Maazullah commanders of the group were killed and 18 others were wounded, ministry of defense said in a statement.
Four strongholds of the enemy with weapons were also destroyed during the raids.
According to the statement, the Afghan security forces conducted operations supported by air forces in Arghandab, Zherai and Dand districts of southern Kandahar province.
25 insurgents were killed and four others wounded in the attack.
Also 25 rounds of mines planted by the Taliban to target civilians and security forces members in Zherai and Arghandab districts were discovered and defused, the statement added.
