AT-KABUL: At least forty-seven Taliban insurgents including thirteen Islamic State (IS), which is also known as Daesh fighters were killed and twenty-three others wounded in different operations lunched by the Afghan security forces across the county within past 24 hours, security officials said on Monday.
In a press release issued here, the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said that the Afghan National Army in collaboration with Afghan National Police and National Directorate of Security operatives had conducted a joint clearance operations against insurgents in different districts of Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Farah, Ghor, Takhar, Baghlan, Kunduz, Sar-i-Pul, Jowzjan, and Helmand provinces, in which 47 insurgents including a commander (Mullah Shokor) were killed and 23 others injured.
Unfortunately, six soldiers were also killed during clashes with the Taliban insurgents, the statement added.
Separately, the Taliban insurgents on Sunday evening launched a coordinated attack on a JumaKandak military base in northern Baghlan province, but the Afghan security forces repulsed their (Taliban) attack with strong intention, local security officials said on Monday.
According to local officials the attack was launched in Pul-e-Hashim Khan localities of the province and after four hours of clash security forces successfully repulsed militants attack.
They furthered that at least two Taliban insurgents including a commander were killed and four others injured in the attack. The killed commander was identified as Qari Bilal.
It is worth mentioningthat northern part of country was secure and stable until last spring. Unfortunately, now it is insecure and fearful place as the Taliban insurgents expanded their terrorist activities there.
The expansion of Taliban activities to northern parts of the country shows that the terrorist networks are getting stronger day by day, causing fear in ordinary Afghans.
Taliban attacks on Afghan and international forces are frequently reported from Kunduz and some other northern provinces. Kunduz was the main stronghold of the Taliban in northern Afghanistan during the course of their rule, until 2001. Throughout this period the Taliban organized their raids in other northern provinces from Kunduz. This may be the reason that the insurgents once again want to use this province as a center for organizing terrorist attacks in other northern provinces.
