KABUL: Afghan security forces have killed 50 Taliban insurgents during a clash in Gizab district of central Uruzgan province, ministry of defense said on Wednesday.
The ministry in a press release said the Taliban militants launched a coordinated attack on an Afghan National Army (ANA) base in the district late Tuesday night.
According to the ministry, security forces called for air support soon after the attack, in which 50 Taliban rebels were killed in the operation.
Attack on insurgents had been increased, the ministry said, however he did not give details regarding security forces casualties in the Taliban attack.
The Taliban group did not react to the incident so far.
