By Akhtar M.Nikzad-KABUL: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Sunday said that around 500 jobs significantly affect health of employees, whereas 224 of them are believed to be deadly.
MoPH signed an agreement with the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled (MoLSAMD) on Saturday to protect workers’ health in both public and private sectors.
MoLSAMD spokesman, Ali Eftekhari, briefing newsmen here in Kabul said the two ministries had drafted an act to ensure safety of workers. He added that the draft would be sent to the Council of Ministers for approval soon.
“Approval of the act will ensure safety of labors, and will also mandate health insurance for low-wage workers,” he said.
He added that after the CoM nod to the law, the workers would regulate working hours, health and amount of payment.
He added that it was the government’s responsibility to create jobs.
This is worth mentioning that widespread unemployment has forced hundreds of educated youth to leave the country and illegally immigrate to the European countries.
