AT-KABUL: At least 53 Taliban insurgents were killed and 18 others wounded in different crackdowns conducted by Afghan security forces across the country during past 24 hours.
In a press release issued here, the Ministry of Defense, said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives conducted joint military operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Paktia, Paktika, Kandahar, Zabul, Badghis, Jawzjan, Kunduz and Helmand provinces, in which 53 militants, including two Daesh fighters were killed and 18 others wounded.
In addition to that, ANA arrested five insurgents and handed them over to the judicial organs for further inquiry, the statement added.
The statement furthered that Afghan security forces discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition during crackdowns.
Unfortunately, seven army soldiers were also killed in the operations, the statement added.
