AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Friday has said that at least 56 insurgents have been killed and 33 others wounded in military operation carried out in different parts of the country within past 24 hours. In a media statement, the MoD rejected the claim of Taliban insurgents that dozens of security forces were killed in fresh attacks.
During the counter terrorism operations, at least nine insurgents were also arrested, the statement said, adding that 22 Taliban commanders are among those killed in the operation.
These operations were conducted in different areas of Kapisa, Paktia, Nangarhar, Ghazni, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Farah, Faryab, Helmand, Kunduz and Herat provinces, in which 56 insurgents were killed and dozens other sustained injuries.
The statement furthered, fifty landmines were defused. Two vehicles and 35 trenches were also destroyed by the Afghan security forces. Afghan forces have received no casualty during the operation, the statement added.
