AT-KABUL: At least 57 Taliban insurgents were killed in multiple crackdowns within the past day, said the interior ministry on Sunday.
The Afghan police in collaboration with the Afghan National Army and the National Directorate of Security raided turbulent parts of Takhar, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Sar-e-Pul, Logar, Uruzgan, Paktika and Helmand provinces to eliminate terrorist holdouts, said the ministry in a media statement issued here.
Some 57 militants were killed and 23 others were injured in the operations. Eleven improvised explosive devices were also defused. Large caches of ammunition were also discovered and confiscated in the operations, the ministry claimed.
