KABUL: Six Daesh rebels were killed in a US drone strike in the Pachir Agam district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Friday.
Provincial Governor Spokesman Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News the drone strike happened in the Sulaimankhel locality on Thursday night in which six Daesh rebels were killed and their weapons destroyed.
He added security forces recovered and defused five landmines planted by insurgents in the Spagwestama Weyali area of Ghanikhel district.
In Jalalabad City, one person was superficially injured in two blasts in front of Provincial Council Member Suhrab Qaderi’s home, Police Spokesman Mubarez Atal said. The incident happened at around 7:30 am.
Nangarhar is an eastern province where both the Taliban and Daesh militants are active, and making efforts to destabilize the province. However, the Afghan security forces carrying out operations against insurgents on daily basis, in which many districts of the province have been cleared from the militants.
