AT-KABUL: Six Islamic State (IS) group, also known as Daesh terrorists – including a notorious extremist commander – have been killed in drone strikes in Khogyani district of eastern Nangarhar province, a statement carried by the 201st Silab Corps said on Wednesday.
The drones pounded militant hideouts in the restive Wazir Tangi area of Khogyani district, killing 6 militants including their commander, Sher Alam, said the statement.
No civilian casualties have been reported in the aerial strikes.
The Islamic State terrorist group has not hitherto commented on the drone strike that struck Wazir Tangi.
Security situation in Nangarhar has remained volatile over the past months. The province is inundated with presence of Taliban and Daesh terrorists, Zamannews has reported.
On Tuesday, a suicide bomber ploughed into a campaign rally in the outskirts of Jalalabad City, killing 14 and wounding at least 50 people who participated in the campaign camp of a prominent local candidate running for parliamentary elections.
