KABUL: At least 61 Taliban militants have been killed and 27 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces across the country within past 24 hours, security official said Monday.
Ministry of Defense in a statement said that the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Farah, Helmand, Ghazni, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Balkh, Wardak and Takhar provinces, in which 61 militants were killed and 27 others wounded.
The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations in the past 24 hours, 19 insurgents were killed and 10 others wounded in Anar Dara district and Raj Wa Karez Shaikha area of Farah—15 militants killed and one of the enemy hideout was destroyed in Nad Ali district of Helmand—11 Taliban fighters killed and some amount of weapons and ammunition of the enemy destroyed in Andar, Dehyak, Qarabagh and Ab-Band districts of Ghazni and five rebels were killed and three others wounded in Surkh Rod district of Nangarhar province.
Similarly, four insurgents were killed and three others wounded in Shah Walikot district of Kandahar—two militants killed and four others wounded in Balkh district of Balkh—two rebels killed in Nirkh district of Maidan Wardak and one terrorist was killed and six others injured in Yangi Qala district of Takhar province.
In past 24 hours, 20 planed clearing operations, and 84 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army, including 32 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
