AT-KABUL: Sixty-five Taliban fighters were killed and 22 others wounded in different crackdowns within past 24 hours, security officials said Sunday.
The defense ministry said in a statement that the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with the Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) launched operations against insurgents in different areas of Kunar, Nangarhar, Paktia, Wardak, Ghazni, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Zabul, Herat, Ghor, Balkh, Jawzjan, Takhar, Baghlan, Kunduz and Helmand provinces.
“In these operations, 65 rebels were killed and 22 others were injured,” the statement said.
“Unfortunately, 11 army soldiers were martyred during the operations,” it added.
The national army also discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well, mentioned the statement.
