AT-KABUL: At least 67 Taliban insurgents were killed and 49 others wounded in different operations launched by the security forces within the past 24 hours across the county, security officials said on Tuesday.
“The national army with the cooperation of the national police and the national directorate of security operatives, conducted clearance operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Laghman, Ghazni, Paktia, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Ghor, Kunduz, Jowzjan and Helmand provinces,” the defense ministry said in a statement.
“In these operations, 67 insurgents including a commander were killed and 49 others injured,” it said.
It added the commander was identified as Mullah Salim, killed along with his 10 mine planters in Ghazni province.
“Unfortunately, seven soldiers were also killed during the clashes,” the ministry said.
