KABUL: At least 67 militants were killed and 30 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said Tuesday.
Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Kapisa, Farah, Takhar, Ghazni, Herat, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Helmand, Faryab, Maidan Wardak and Zabul provinces, in which 67 militants were killed and 30 others wounded.
Afghan security forces succeeded to arrest 16 rebels including eight suspects and handed them over to the related judicial organs for further inquiry.
The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During operations in the past 24 hours, 22 Taliban insurgents were killed, five others wounded, eight arrested, some amount of weapons and ammunition seized and 12 rounds of IEDs discovered and defused in Tagab district of Kapisa—13 militants killed and three motorbikes destroyed in vicinities of the province capital of Farah—eight rebels killed and seven others wounded in Darqad district of Takhar—seven insurgents killed and eight others wounded in Muqur and Andar districts of Ghazni—four militants including Mullah Shireen Gul Taliban shadow district governor for Zahwal district were killed in Zahwal and Shindan districts of Heart—three insurgents killed in Shah Walikut district of Kandahar—two Daesh affiliates were killed, eight suspects were detained, amount of weapons and munitions, four grenade launchers confiscated and large number of weapons and ammunition and four-kg opium destroyed in Achin district of Nangarhar province.
Similarly, two insurgents were killed and another one was wounded in Grishk district of Helmand—two rebels killed and another was wounded in Qaramqol district of Faryab—two insurgents killed in Chak district of Maidan Wardak and two militants were killed in capital area of Zabul province.
In the past 24 hours, 13 planed clearing operations, and Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army including 16 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
